Reflection
I've been going through some violent ups and downs lately. I feel like I'm constantly battling
myself to stay positive and telling myself it's going to get better. The truth is, I really don't know
when it will, and it makes me feel petty because I KNOW that it could be a lot worse. A lot lot
worse.
I've been in Los Angeles for over a year and haven't met any new friends. I work from home
so it's really hard to be social. Also, it feels like the older I get, the harder it is for me to meet
people who are on the same page as me. All I like to do is hang out, drink tea or coffee or eat
and just talk for hours. Doesn't take much to make me happy really (surprise surprise), but at
this point in time, it seems completely impossible to make new friends. Is it Los Angeles? Is
it ME? A combination of both? It gets so lonely here in the office/apartment, I miss being able
to laugh. I miss it a lot.
Anyway, that's my rant for the day. Kinda depressing. Sorry. Ehh.

I'm with you dear. I've been pretty down myself and then feel guilty because really my life isn't bad at all.
ReplyDeleteBut it will get better. It always does.
I imagine that living in a big city makes it extra hard to meet people. Everyone is so wrapped up in their own lives. I work from home as well (if I can really call knitting and trying to get this little business going work) and hardly ever get out or see anyone besides my husband. Which is okay. I am a bit of a hermit by nature, but it is lonely sometimes. And while my husband is my best friend, I wonder sometimes if it is unhealthy not to have a couple best girlfriends as well.
Anyway, I don't mean to be depressing too, but you are not alone! And sometimes things just take time, you know? That's what I keep telling myself.
Hang in there!
Oh and I love love that mirror. Your photos always blow me away.
thanks, juli :)
ReplyDeletei'm a huge hermit too, but sometimes i just feel that need to hang out with a girlfriend and laugh a little. seems like we have a few things in common huh? i'm loving the stuff you've been knitting! i would definitely say that what you're doing is work. i think it's great that you're doing something you love, i'm always for that :)
don't worry about sounding depressing. i know exactly what you're feeling + saying. it's hard. too bad i didn't live closer, i'd love to just hang out.
anyway, hope things get better :) sending positive thoughts your way! <3
thanks again for the note, it made me feel better.
