3 Days

It was actually a little chilly last night when my husband and I went out for dinner. I ended
up driving, for the first time in literally months! Ever since we've moved here, i've been
scared to drive on the freeways. Last night I somehow worked up the courage to drive
to dinner and afterwards, I had some strange urge to just keep going! Past the cut-off
to our little apartment, onto the freeway, and all the way through downtown. It made
me feel like a teenager again, joyriding in my moms little honda hatchback with 8 girls
crammed into the back giggling and singing over each other to songs on the radio. But
anyway, that's a different story...

3 Days till my little sister comes to visit me. I haven't seen her in about 3-4 months
but it feels terribly longer. This is my sister, and the photo was taken about 6 months
ago. My walls look so empty and sad, I've been trying to think of what to do with them.
Been lacking in the inspiration dept. so they could use some excitement.

In other news: I found a camera shop close to our place. The lab I normally go to doesn't sell
a lot of film so I'm forced to just order online. This new place has a vast assortment of 35mm and
120 film. I felt like I hit the jackpot when I locked eyes onto the film fridge! I picked up two rolls
of 35mm Kodak Portra 160NC. I've used the 400VC before and loved it, but have been admiring
the colors that natural color brings into photographs. Just something so charming about that flat
desaturated look.

These are a few of my most favorite cameras. I still have some Polaroid 600 film stashed away in
the fridge for a rainy day. I am praying for The Impossible Project to come through. Fingers
will stay crossed until then. I have much faith.

It's almost Friday! Hang in there & i'll try to do the same.

Today is filled with a/c

Fresh tea and illustrator files, all morning into the afternoon. I'm daydreaming of
spending the day in a library, flipping through old stained photo books and
enjoying the warmth of the summer sun from a blanket in the park.

Transport me, please.

Trying to get to the park before the sun goes down. Time is running out.

Meandering

While waiting for laundry to wash & dry, we took a walk. A lot of interesting antique stores
lining the streets by our place, we don't really get out and walk as much as we should. I found
the spot where the town holds their weekly farmers market! I'm excited to make it there one day.
While we were walking, we found a little Japanese restaurant and decided to try it out for dinner. It
was pretty good, I had Chicken Udon and 2 Inaris. We hung out and talked a while and then headed
home to get the clothes before the laundromat closed. The sky was a deep blue, just waiting patiently
to darken and fade to a dark gray coal color. The air was nice and surprisingly cool, and I felt a little
tingle of happiness in my heart. Just walking in the sunset and being able to enjoy a nice night under
street lights holding hands, makes me so happy. I love summertime, I really don't want it to end.

I don't remember ever appreciating warmth and summer so much in my entire life

Sunday Afternoons

Hydrangeas, laundry, chicken club sandwich w/ avocado on grilled sour dough bread,
and lazy days spent indoors with the windows open.

Disposable Memory Project

{Images via Disposable Memory Project}

Stumbled across this project, which I thought was an incredibly wonderful idea. It's called "The Disposable Memory Project", where a group of people leave disposable cameras around the world at random places. They leave the cameras in a little plastic bag, with instructions on what to do if found. When/if you find it, you are to take a few photos and pass it along to someone else. When the camera roll is finished, you send it back (they will pay for shipping back + processing of the images) to an address given and you'll be linked to the images
after the roll is developed.

It reminds me of a project my friend Lauren turned me on to, back when I was in my early twenties. It was called the 1000 Journals Project. Basically the same as the Disposable Memory Project, only with little black books. You fill the pages with anything you want and pass them along/drop them in random locations for people to fill and return to the projects home base. There is also a movie for 1000 Journals, the trailer looks amazing & inspiring. Watch it here: 1000 Journals Trailer. I'd always daydream about finding one of the books, and what i'd put in it. Neoprints? Polaroids? Izone photos of airplane windows? The possibilities were endless. I definitely have to watch this film, it's long overdue.

Youth And Beauty Brigade

Pastels

I love ultra feminine hair accessories. I
would kill for one of these pretty pastel
pieces by Handle & Spout.

They also sell necklaces, earrings & these
adorable nesting dolls! I'm adding their
whole shop to my current want list.

We were blown off course by a cloudburst
