Avocados + Farmers markets

What I would give for a few of Lauren's avocados and mom's avocado salad, right now.
Past few days i've been in research + edit-out-of-control mode. I'm really looking forward
to the next few days. Tomorrow is the Polaroid show and hopefully we'll be able to get out
of the house for a bit before heading down there. I don't even care where we go, just as
long as we go. Seeing the sun and feeling the cool winter chill against my face would be
just the perfect day for me. I'm getting excited just thinking about it. :)

What is there to cook!? I'm in a weird food-slump. Meaning, there's nothing out there that
sounds good. I'm really tired of eating heavy foods. Feels like every night for the past week,
we've been eating fried foods, greasy foods, or food that's just plain heavy.

I searched around online for winter vegetables & fruits (mostly because we're trying to save $$)
and came up with the following:

Beets, Belgian Endive, Broccoli, Brussels Sprouts, Cabbage, Cardoons, Carrots, Cauliflower,
Celery, Chicories, Clementines, Escarole, Fennel, Grapefruit, Herbs, Horseradish, Jerusalem
artichokes, Kale, Kiwis, Kumquats (late winter :( ), Leeks, Lemons & Meyer Lemons, Mandarins,
Onions, Parsnips, Persimmons (early winter=yay), Potatoes, Radishes (large varieties), Rutabagas,
Salsify, Satsumas, Shallots,Sweet Potatoes, Tangerines, Treviso,Turnips and Winter squash.

WOW. Okay, so I'm a newbie food lover. I am also new at loving and appreciating the taste of
vegetables and fruits. I've honestly never heard of a lot of these names on the list above, which
brings me to want to learn a lot more about them.

My goal in the next month or so, is to try new vegetables. Winter vegetables at that. I need to
expand my wants and needs and daringly delve into the unknown. I make it sound so dramatic,
but really, it is for me. I'm excited.

I found a recipe for Chickpea Escarole Stew. Escaole & Chickpeas- both of which
I have shamefully never tried. I can't wait to make this, I hope Ron likes it?!

We'll see. Wish me luck, i'll update you on my progress. Have a good weekend.
