RECAP | A YEAR IN PHOTOS

(October) (52 Week Project Photos)
I can't really say 2009 was a HORRIBLE year. I mean, it was but, it kinda wasn't in
a few ways. I'm gonna take you through it w/ photos, so here we go:

October: I was already in Los Angeles for about a month. We had just gotten our
little apartment and furniture. This photo was taken with my (then) new camera,
the canon xsi rebel. I was really excited and started a 52 week self-portrait project
on flickr. One photo a week for one year. This is the first, taken in our new bed,
a few days before Halloween.

(November)
First dentist appointment in LA. Also, just started to get the hang of my SX-70. I got
my face drilled that day. Lots of pain and novocaine, but just one little cavity, which I
was definitely happy about.

(November 2008)
Ah yes. Friends. Sometimes you realize that people you've known for years, just aren't who
you thought they were. Sometimes you just have to say goodbye to friendships and move
on. Sometimes.

6/52
(Thanksgiving)
We drove down to San Francisco for Thanksgiving w/ Ron's Brothers + wives + girlfriends.
Twas a good time. I went to my first winery and got to see the city for a quick day trip.

7/52

We got a tree. We decorated. We had no presents under it, but it was a good christmas. Our
first Christmas as a married couple :)

16/52
(February)
My sister and her boyfriend came to visit. We took photos under the magnolia trees, which
where in FULL bloom.

17/52
(February)
We drove to Vegas the day after Valentines, for the Magic tradeshow. We stayed w/ Shannon
and Mike at their townhouse just outside the city.

20/52
(March)
The flowers around our apartment complex started to bloom. First time seeing color in a
long time. It was really nice. (A few days after my sister's 21st birthday btw)

26/52 (No. 4) Polaroid Week Day 2
(May)
My first Polaroid Week. :)

On The Last Day (No. 11) 27/52
(May)
My last day of Polaroid Week, with a pineapple that we ate in delight.

28/52
(May)
I remember this day so very clearly. It was finally warm enough to swim in the pool. No one
else was out, just Ron and I. The light was perfect. The day was absolutely perfect. When I
think back to happy times here, I think of this day. We ate japanese curry + rice that night,
and I had a slight sunburn. :)

31/52
(June)
I look like a vampire here. Took a self-portrait w/ my Polaroid, while sitting in the bedroom
sun.

32/52
(June)
Ren visited me. We took photobooth photos at Cha Cha Lounge in Silverlake. She also
cut my bangs very very short. Shorter than I'm used to.

Everyday Is Like Sunday 33/52
(June)
We drove down to Huntington and Ron surfed. We took photos on the pier and the air was still
crisp and cold but the sun was shining down on our skin and warming us. We watched the
sunset and photographed shiny streamers and seagulls.

35/52
(July)
Yes, July. I love you, too, July. LOVE LOVE LOVE. Big Bear Lake. I absolutely love this place in the
summer. We came here for our one year anniversary. Floated around in a boat on the lake, staring
at puffy white clouds and reminiscing. <3

I Love Making Mistakes | 36/52
(July)
Same day. On the lake.

38/52
(August)
Drove up behind Chavez Ravine/Dodgers Stadium. We found a little place that overlooked the

This was when I was kinda getting better. In the hotel.

45/52 | 52 Weeks
(Sept)
LA COUNTY FAIR! I really love fairs. I won a stuffed animal from skee ball! I got a few balls into the
100 slot. I think I actually won that other other stuffed animal too! Don't remember where though.

46/52
(Sept)
LA COUNTY FAIR. Ron+I in a photobooth, right before we called it a night.

October | 47/52
(Oct)
Cabazon Dinos! PEE WEE! We drove down to Palm Springs to get away for the weekend. It was really nice
to just get up and go. The Dodgers were still trying to clinch the NLWEST so we ended up going to some
dive bar to watch the game. The Dodgers won. Ron celebrated. I took photos of vodka.

Trains Pass | 48/52
(Oct)
The Salton Sea. A body of water in the middle of the desert. Quite a sight if I may say so myself. QUITE
a sight to see...

49/52
(Oct)
Got my Land Camera to WORK! Bought some fuji and voila! We found a little pond near some
archery spot down the road from us. It was pretty relaxing and the sunset was extremely pretty that
day. I remember.

Happy Halloween 51/52
(Oct)
Happy Halloween! Ron and I went down and picked up ultra cheap wigs from some place in Hollywood.
It was really crowded. Then we went up to this public mansion that overlooks all of hollywood and Los
Angeles. It was the perfect day. <3

52/52 !! | The Finish Line
(Nov)
I finished my 52 weeks project! Wow! Me?! I really finished something, you ask?! Yes, yes. DONE.
I'm actually thinking of starting a new one though. Because after going through all of these. It's
kind of amazing to see your life documented per month. Brings back really good memories. Just
when you thought your year was a big piece of shit. You can look in your digital folder and smile.

Inside the bubble
(Dec)
And Finally, December. My last self-portrait taken. I was in Hawaii visiting family. We had JUST gotten
off the airplane and ended up watching a few flights land and take off below. Took this really quick. I
was so tired from all that anxiety with the flight.

Let us hope that 2010 will be a good year, yes? I'm looking forward to another clean slate. More than
ever, I'd like to start this year off right.

(Still working on my list)

Ps-It's 4:09 am. I need sleep. Goodnight.

2 months ago, I took these photos. It seems like forever ago since we've taken walks in
short sleeves and I strapped on my favorite braided white sandals. Strange. So much has
happened so quickly. Just something about this time of year that makes me feel a little
down. I miss that warm feeling of sunshine and baseballs games, even eating those greasy
foods. I miss the pool and drives to places we've never been before.

I MISS IT. I haven't been in the best of moods lately, sorry for being negative. I hope I get
get over this and move forward. What will it take?!

Zzz..

Vast & Endless

I've been up since 5 am. At first I was laying in bed staring at the back of my eyelids, trying to
think of boring, random things to help me go back to sleep. Then I realized, it's not going to
happen. I have a hard time sleeping throughout the night nowadays. Trying to re-train my brain
to sleep in darkness is harder than expected.

Working on the website and editing all day today. Hoping to finish a few old projects and get it
out to clear room for new ones.

Been so stressed out lately. I think stress is contributing to breakouts. I picked up a wedding
magazine from Borders yesterday and there was a page on acne & breakouts and how they're
caused. Somewhat interesting:

Complextion Perfection
---------------------
ACNE
Acne is caused when the outer layer of our skin produces too many "dead" cells, which then mix with
sebum (skin's natural oil) to form nasty pore blockers called comedones. Call the A-team- the vitamin
A-team, that is- and regulate cell production by munching apricots, mangoes, sweet potatoes and skiitake
mushrooms.

DEHYDRATION
All skin types can suffer from dehydration- to see if your skin does, gently push your skin upwards: "If
it falls into a fine horizontal line this is a sure sign of dehydration." Essential fatty acids (EFAs)- found in walnuts
and cold-water fish such as salmon, trout and sardines- hydrate by attracting water to cells.

Dullness
Sometimes skin just isn't as good at multi-tasking as you are. So when stress hits, it gets side-tracked from turning
over new cells to deal with bigger issues, robbing you of your aisle-worthy radiance. Thank goodness, then, for
goji berries. "They have EFAs, antioxidants, minerals, B vitamins and 18 amino acids- they're the ultimate
nutritious food,"

-----------------

Here's something that I found rather interesting:

Pimples on your forehead indicate you're eating too many sugary or greasy foods; chin spots are hormonal (nice
one, periods!; and milia (tiny white spots near the eyes) mean too much dairy and alcohol." And those painful,
red, under-the-skin spots? "They're due to stress. Drink camomile tea by the bucket load to calm down, and
swap spicy, acidic or vinegary foods for anything bland.

------------------

Okay, enough about acne and stress-causing pimples. I've been wishing to see snow so bad, but it looks like
we probably won't be taking a trip up to the mountains this winter. It's sad, but I can always live through photo-
graphs other people have recently taken, and live vicariously through them! Hopefully next winter we'll be
able to bask in that cold winter sun and squish our little boots through the freshly laid snow. :)

Also, Nicole inspired me to write up a resolution list, but I haven't gotten around to it yet. I'll work
on it through the day. I'm not usually big into resolutions, mainly cause I just don't care, but this
year is different. Somehow I feel as though it's going to be different, and that says a lot. So thanks,
Nicole. I'm gonna whip up a batch of words that actually mean something. I'll post them later.

In the meantime, have a good day.

How are we to feel when there is no warmth?

Feeling completely drained. 12:00 am, day after Christmas, staring at the pale pink walls.
No thoughts circulating, no appetite, just a little void where thoughts use to be. Trying
to snap myself out of whatever I fell into. I'm not sure it'll go away as easy as it usually
does.

New beginnings, soon.

The Youth

I hear a lot of negative comments when it comes to today's youth. For me, I see hope when it comes
to creativity. So many beautiful images and shorts I find laying around are captured by boys & girls
under the age of 18!

This video is shot by Nirrimi, an aspiring fashion photographer. I love watching something and
actually feeling moved. Something powerful about this little vid. I can watch it over and over,
it's so cute.

2005-Now

2005 photo of myself w/ the tiara and a 2009 photo of myself with the blue and
white striped tee. I seem to scrunch my face up a lot more than I did almost 5 years
ago! Maybe I'm losing my eyesight too. Hmm.

Anyway, need to sleep. G'night.

Macaroni & Cheese Casserole

Tried making something different tonight. Macaroni & Cheese Casserole. I made a mistake and
boiled 16 oz. of macaroni instead of just 8, but it ended up tasting really good. I think we need
a little more cheese next time. I wanted it to turn out a little different, where the layer of cheese
on top is completely covering the macaroni and you can't see it at all. I'm gonna try again, but
not for a while. Still a lot of leftovers! Guess I know what I'm having for lunch tomorrow!

Easy recipe though. Really quick. It was nice trying something different for a change. :)

Time to shower and sleep. Goodnight! Zzz.

The light outside was white

Not much to say today. Just working on the never ending pile of work, trying to get it down to
a reasonable amount before Christmas.

Been having some weird dreams and (again) having a hard time going to sleep at night. I had
no problem in Hawaii. Something about this place. I think we need more light. White light. Like
in the photo above. The most perfect white light.

Back to the pile. Have a good Monday. Eh. Monday.
